FULL METTLE RACKETT - FMR are a good time classic rock outfit from Plymouth. Dave the lead singer has been in other bands including Faith Healer and more recently Slack Sabbath. The band has been together for 3 years and they are mad about classic rock! Lead guitarist Steve Tapper is the 'baby' of the group but an exceptional lead guitarist with a passion for all things rock and metal; the rhythm section is made up of Paul Devine and Gary Johnson hailing from various other local bands and musican mash ups. Together Full Mettle Rackett make muisc in eclectic form combining hard classic hits of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple to more up to date 'toons' such as Iron Maiden, Metallica with plenty in between. The feel good factor of the band is there to be seen with on stage antics only to be witnessed first hand - a very worthy headline for the Saturday all day/night event!
CROSSFIRE - Crossfire are an exceptional rock covers band always receiving a enthusiastic response form the audience with their attention to detail on tracks by the Stones, Van Morrison, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Black Sabbbeth and Deep Purple to name a few but expect a few chart tracks and crowd pleasers to be thrown into the ring!
BLUE ON BLACK – Formed in June 2001 this 3 piece have steadily developed their own ‘signiture band’ of guitar driver weapons grade blues/rock. Having already played alongside legends of rock and blues including Joe Banamassa, Deep Purple, Walter Trout and Peter Frampton, the Band (Keith Howe – Guitar and vocals, Paul Arnott – cass and vocals and Andy McDonalds – percussion and vocals) have built a reputation for delivering a power house night of rocking blues. Having already released three albums showcasing their music the band is currently promoting their latest studio CD entitled Sucking Out Vemon endorsed by Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan and ocne again showcasing their signature guitar driver rock/blues
BLACK CAT BONE - Originally formed in late September 2010 as "A Bad Day In Court", by guitarist/singer Paul White in collaboration with young local singer/songwriterEdd Lane who shared Paul's desire to crank up the volume and rock the blues. Edd's dad, Dave, was installed behind the drum kit and the hunt began for a bass player to complete the line up. Eventually, Plymouth based bassist Age Lundstrom was tracked down, auditioned and press-ganged into playing the band's first gig five days later. This line-up continued into December, rocking up material by the likes of Jonny Lang, Joe Bonamasa, Cream and Gary Moore (to name but a few influences), until Edd decided to quit the band to concentrate more on his acoustic work. During this period the remaining members tried to recruit a fourth musician to complete the outfit without success. Dave left the band at about this time, due in part to the frustrations of the search, leaving Paul and Age to ponder the future. As the early performances had been so successful and displayed great potential, it was decided to continue the project and try to find a new drummer and second guitarist/harmonica/keyboard player. Luckily, they happened across Exeter based drummer Fran Edwards, who was quite excited by the direction the remaining band members wanted to take. A couple of practise sessions later and it became obvious that Fran's rock solid drumming style would enable the and to develop the "power trio" sound, without the need for anotherguitar. In this format, material by the likes of ZZ-Top, Dr Feelgood, Rory Gallgher and Jimi Hendrix has been added to the set giving it a much more blues/rock feel. It was then felt that a change of name would be in order and "Black Cat Bone" came into being
FACEMELTER - High energy theatrically fronted classic rock and early metal covers band aimed predominately at the real and true discerning fan of this genre. They perform their songs with passion, presence and the spirit they deserve. Facemelter comes complete with its own twin guitar outfit and versatile high tenor front man. These essential aspects ensure the classics are playing in the way they should be heard. Entertaining a crowd is something FACEMELTER love to do so you never get half measures when it comes to performances. The reason they do not do half-hearted gigs is because it is FACEMELTER’S ethos to present a show!
FAT TUESDAY – One of the most talented alumni of Singlapore’s sixties R&B scene, guitarist Jimmy Appudurai-Chua now resides in Torpoint but often gets wooed back to Singlepore for blues festivals or reunions with his old band The Straydogs, arguably the first ‘serious’ Singaporean blues band. Much of that seriousness came straight from Jimmy, who derailed the band from any hippie/psychedelic inclinations and stubbornly pushed for more twelve-bars. Many incarnations followed in and around Hong Kong where he was coaxed into picking up guitar again with none other than Chris Vadham, a fellow veteran of the 60’s rock scene which quickly followed rewarding encounters with Alexis Korner John Mayall and Stevie Winwood. It is a great honour to have Jummy launching his new band Fat Tuesday at Tavisrock 2011.
THE RISING - One of Plymouth’s most credible and ‘rising’ young bands playing their own material which goes down a storthanks to the impressive vocal range of singer Ryan Jenkins. Now also enjoying rock tracks being written and performed by likes of Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and the Frutelli's.
